Welcome to the Zoom Events Guide for you Slayers
Here's a Handy Guide to Help You Get Started:
We’ve put together this simple guide to help you navigate the Zoom Events platform,
which we will be using to host this event, ensuring a smooth experience from start to finish.
Kelly Callaghan will be hosting the entire event, including sponsors and speakers, while Anna Hollowell will be moderating the sessions.
Step 1: Ensure Your Zoom Profile is Set Up
- Email Check: You will receive an email in your inbox with a direct link to join the event. Be sure to complete your registration using the provided registration link. Check your spam folder too!
- Zoom Profile Setup: Make sure your Zoom profile is linked to the same email address you used to register for Slay the Spray.
- If you log in to Zoom using a different email, you’ll need to create a new profile with the email used for registration. This step is essential for accessing the event.

Step 2: Access the Event Lobby
- Click the Event Link: Once you completed the registration, you will receive another email containing a link to access the event lobby.
- Join the Lobby: Once you click the link, you’ll be prompted to enter the lobby.
- You’ll be asked to create a guest profile. This includes adding your profile picture, business name, and a brief description about yourself.
- Just click on the 'Manage Profile' to update a photo and ensure your profile is not hidden.
- This profile helps us get to know you and connect during the event.

Step 3: Announcements and Event Updates

Check Announcements: In the top right corner of the lobby, you will see an announcement section. Make sure to click "Show More" to read important updates throughout the event.
- You’ll also find a link to join the Slay the Spray Attendees-Only Facebook Group—be sure you are a member of this group to stay informed.

Step 4: Use the Lobby Chat
- Lobby Chat Features: The lobby chat is available for you to:
- Say hi and introduce yourself.
- Share insights and connect with other attendees.
- Engage in real-time discussions.
- Private Chats: If you want to chat with specific attendees, click on the “People” tab. Here, you can select any attendee and send them a private message.

Step 5: Familiarize Yourself with the Event Sessions
- Lobby Access: The event lobby will open on Thursday morning, giving you time to explore.
- View Speakers and Agenda:
- You’ll be able to see the speaker lineup and access the event agenda under the “Sessions” tab.
- Upcoming sessions will appear in the lobby.

Step 6: Join Live Sessions
- Join a Session: When a session is about to start, you will see a “Join” button next to the session in the lobby.
- Make sure to click the “Join” button to enter the live Zoom session. This will allow you to engage with speakers and other attendees through the Zoom chat.
- If you don't click “Join,” you’ll still be able to watch from the lobby, but won’t be able to participate in the Zoom chat.
Step 7: Bookmark Sessions
- Bookmark Your Favorites: You can bookmark the sessions you’re most excited about directly from the session list.
- Hide Ended Sessions: If you prefer to only see upcoming sessions, click on “Hide Ended Sessions” for a streamlined view.

Step 8: Visit the Sponsor Expo
- Sponsor Expo: The virtual Expo will take place on Friday starting at 10:00 AM PST
- Explore sponsor booths and engage with them during this time.

Final Reminders
- Set Up Your Profile: Ensure your guest profile is complete with a photo, business name, and short bio.
- Say Hi: Don’t forget to drop a message in the lobby chat once you're all set up!

Helpful Tips for a Smooth Experience
- Join Early: We recommend logging into the event 10-15 minutes early to ensure everything is working properly.
- Stable Internet Connection: Make sure you have a strong internet connection to prevent disruptions during the event.
- Mute Your Mic: Unless you’re actively speaking, keep your microphone muted to avoid background noise.
