How To Simplify Selling To Create The Cashflow Of Your Dreams

Jul 09, 2022

Sales, sales, sales. It’s a crucial aspect of your beauty biz. In that, if you don’t sell, you don’t make money, honey! Although we became beauty bosses because we loved what we did and it fills our hearts with fiery passion, the fact of the matter is that if we aren’t bringing in money then what we do is really just a hobby. Thriving businesses bring in those dolla dolla bills. So if everytime you come across the thought of selling and it gives you the “ick,” it’s time to put down your spray tan gun and listen up, babe! You are brilliant at what you do because you’re creative, talented and inspired by your work, but as the glow boss you’ve become, you’re now aware that you have to wear many hats. Some of those hats, such as the sales woman hat, may not fit super comfortably.. AT FIRST! We are here to change that! Remember that you are on the journey you’re on because you had a vision for yourself and you are capable enough to acquire all of the skills necessary to bring that to fruition! With all that being said, I’m here to tell you that selling doesn’t have to be hard, it doesn’t have to be intimidating and it definitely should not give you the feeling of being a door-to-door sales lady.

Let’s get into it! Selling is massively a mindset game. Setting yourself up in the right mindset to connect with your clients in a way that doesn’t feel or sound “salesy” will benefit you and your pocketbook to another level. The next time you go to make a sale to a client, keep these three things in mind:

Tell A Story

Being relatable through storytelling will (almost) never fail you! Telling a story to a client can create a circumstance where the client will be comfortable in the fact that you understand the fears or uncertainties they may have during their service. Stories are relatable and create connections. Therefore, when clients feel that they are understood and you are sympathizing with their real life experiences, they form more trust in what you have to offer. One way you can implement storytelling into your sales strategy is through after-care retail instruction or social media marketing where you tell a story in your captions. You can tell a story about your personal tanning experiences or those from past clients. For example, you can explain how, before using Tan Remover Spray, a past client consistently complained about struggling to get off an old tan and how it affected the quality of her new one. But, now that she has implemented this one product into her routine, she tells you at every appointment that she always gets compliments on how natural and even her tan is.

Be a Friend

Selling doesn’t have to include talking about the benefits and asking for someone to buy an item like an in-person infomercial. No girl, remember your clients are your people! They come to you for a service not just because you’re good at what you do, but because of who you are. Talk to them just like you would if you were recommending your new favorite Starbucks drink to any of your best girl friends. Although you’re the professional in this situation and there’s certainly boundaries that you need to hold up, it is inevitable that you will form a bond with your clients. These individuals trust you enough to pay you for a service that changes their appearance, so just as you would with any other friend, share the things that you love that will help their experience with you over all!

Show Your Passion

Energy is contagious! When people can feel that you’re passionate about what you’re talking about, their ears perk up. Whether you’re talking about your services or the retail products you offer, make sure that you speak from an authentic place that shows the love you have for what it is you’re trying to sell. I’m going to guess that whichever products or services you decide to offer to clients is, you chose them because you are a personal fan of them and you know how beneficial they are! Drive the passion you bring into your work into the way you speak and I guarantee that you will see a difference in the way that clients respond. What’s even better, is that when you’re speaking from an authentic place of passion, the energy and words come to you in the most natural form.

These tips are simple, but GURL.. they are effective! The moral of the story here is to just be yourself! Treat your clients like you care and let them know that you are there doing what you do because it’s what drives your passion. Lastly, don’t overthink it. If you love what you do, selling your products and services will start to become a natural process for you that doesn’t feel “icky.” Not to mention, your clients want you to step into your position as the expert so that they can receive the best possible outcome for their investment because of what YOU recommend to them.
