How To Get More Clients And Build Social Proof

Building a solid clientele is most likely at the top of your to-do list as a new sunless biz babe. It’s also probably pretty high on the list of things that makes you feel stressed out about your business, ammiright!? This stress comes from the feeling that if you don’t have enough clients then you won’t have enough money coming in! I know that you are determined to get your business to the point of being fully booked by clients that just adore you and your services. The reason I get asked all the time about how to build a successful clientele is because it takes a lot of work and a whole lot of time! If there’s one thing for sure, it’s that I don’t want you stressin’ about getting people to call you up to book appointments. This is why today I’m going to share a golden nugget with you on how to help build up your books! One of the sure fire ways to get your clientele up and poppin’ is to grow your social proof!

According to our good friend Wikipedia, Social Proof is: ... a psychological and social phenomenon wherein people copy the actions of others in an attempt to undertake behavior in a given situation.”

So why in the H is this beneficial to you in your journey to growing your books in your beauty biz? Well Glow Boss, prospective clients like hearing from other people on their experiences so that they can make a decision on if you will be a good investment for them. That means that if someone is researching you, they will want to see reviews and testimonials from your past clients! Let’s do a little reflection exercise, shall we? Close your eyes and think about all the times that you have been shopping online (yes, that’s you Amazon lovers!), how many times have you scrolled to the reviews on the product that you were about to purchase before hitting the Buy Now button? That’s right! Probably every single time. We do this because we don’t want our money to go to waste on something that isn’t going to give us what we are looking for, so we are willing to trust the word of strangers on the internet with so much magnitude that it persuades us to actually purchase whatever it is that we are thinking about buying. It’s pretty crazy, really. But for you as a business owner, it’s fabulous because you can use social proof to your advantage!

Now the question becomes how we actually go about building up our social proof online so that people who are looking into our business are persuaded to book or buy from us. Below are a few simple ways in which you can fluff up your social proof in no time!

Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed

One of my all time favorite sayings: “closed mouths don’t get fed.” This means you have to make the ask! If you don’t ask the question, the answer will always be “no.” Being a business owner means that you have to go after what you want and make that ish happen even if it feels uncomfy. This can look as simple as sending a quick message to past clients asking them to leave a review for you on your Facebook business page or Google! It’s amazing how many people are willing to leave a review talking about their experience with you if you just ask them to!

Offer $$ Off

Want to know a true fact? People love free ish and saving money. I’m pretty sure it’s just part of human nature (but don’t quote me on that ;)). Right after a client’s service you have the perfect opportunity to make an ask for a review. In order to make this a little more enticing and mutually beneficial for you and the client, you can offer a discount on their next service if they are willing to go onto Google or Facebook and leave a review right then and there. For example, ask your client “would you like to receive $5 off your next visit by leaving us a review about your experience?” This only takes a few extra minutes to throw into their checkout process and you’ve gained a followup appointment, a happy customer and a new testimonial on your biz. Wham bam, thank you ma’am!

The Fortune is in the Follow Up

If you’ve never heard this saying then GURL, recite it to yourself slowly now because it is the all encompassing gospel to bringing in the cash money of your dreams into your beauty biz. First of all, you should always follow up with your clients in some way shape or form to check in on their experience with you so that you can continue building that trust in the relationship with your client. This is great customer service because people want to know that you care! To help you get reviews in this process you can send a follow up message to clients directly after their appointment asking for feedback. This can oftentimes be added as an automation in your booking system so that you don’t even have to think about it! A message will go to your client’s inbox and then they will have the opportunity to give their review with very little effort.

If you implement these easy peasy tasks into your routine you’ll start seeing feedback pile up in no time so that when new clients look up your beauty biz, they will be able to see all your raving reviews which will then entice them to book with you! Not to mention, it’s amazing to read how much impact you have on your clients!
