2022 Trends For Beauty Business Babes

Feb 03, 2022

We’ve officially made it through the first month of the year. See ya later, January! However, 2022 is just getting started. That’s why, today, we are going over 2022 Trends for Beauty Business. When I envision this year, I envision success in a whole different way than I have in the past. As all of us know, our lives and our businesses have shifted immensely over the past two years. Many of our businesses don’t look the same as they did pre-pandemic. Going through these trends, I want you to remember it’s okay that there’s been a shift in the way we had done things in the past. It’s okay that things feel different and it’s okay that all of this newness in your business might feel more challenging. In this space, at the beginning of a new year, you can take the opportunity to have a fresh prospect on what your business will look like going forward. This is the time to understand where you will be focusing your energy and how you can grow into the person and business owner that you want to be, not despite the circumstances in our lives, but because you’re using these new challenges to empower and push you into the next beautiful, unstoppable version of yourself.

With all of that being said, let’s get into the juicy details of what 2022 brings to our horizons as beauty business babes! Below are five trends to bring forth with you on your journey to reaching new goals this year.

Video

Girl, you know I’m a big ol’ fan of using video in business! I talk about this a lot because I really truly believe there’s so much power in video when it comes to marketing and growing your business. We all have certain goals we would like to reach, whether that includes the number of sales we get a month or the number of clients we book or the amount of engagement we get on our social media posts for our business. I will tell you one thing: video will only be a propellant to help you move closer to any of those goals you have set for yourself in 2022. Why is that? Because video is taking over. People have short attention spans, they want to be engaged and entertained. Not only that, but depending on the way you choose to use video in your business, you’re able to grow a more personable relationship with your audience by interacting with them in a way that your personality and authenticity shines through. I understand that video makes a lot of you babes feel very scared! I know that putting yourself out there is intimidating, but I want you to go into creating video content with what feels right for you. Get creative; make shorter videos, use different platforms, such as IGTV or Youtube. Be different and step outside of the box. There’s a lot of repetitive content we see with Instagram Reels and Tiktoks where people are creating very similar things over and over again. This is a great opportunity for you to hone into your own gifts and put in your own authenticity to grab the attention of your ideal audience. Don’t feel forced to do anything you don’t feel aligned with, try new things and go after video content that calls your name.

More Action, Less Consuming

Have you ever thought about how much content and information you are actually consuming on a daily basis? The rise of the internet and social media platforms brings a lot of great opportunities for business owners, but it can also be a time trap that negatively impacts your mental health. If you’ve ever found yourself scrolling aimlessly for hours on end, I promise you girlfriend, you’re not alone. The vast amount of consumption of information we take in every single day is incredible and, at times, troubling. Remember, our own mental health matters! In 2022, it’s time to be very selective with what we take in. Consuming too much information will put you into a spiral of analysis paralysis that can actually be harmful to the drive you have in your business. We tend to take in so much of everything that we get stuck in a place where we don’t even know what we should do next, so we end up just not doing anything! That’s not where we want to be, especially when we have goals to crush! Be mindful of what you’re consuming and who you’re consuming it from. It’s easy to get caught up in the opinions of the billions of people on the interweb, so it’s important to check in with yourself and ask, “what is the opinion of others and what is my own opinion and how is that discerning from my own actions.” Put your energy into doing things that will help move the needle forward instead of consuming massive amounts of other people’s content that can make you question if what you’re doing is the “right thing” to do. The fact is, that everyone has their own journey to get to where they want to be and there will never be a perfect time or a perfect way to move forward toward your goals. This year we are not comparing, we are just taking action.

Know Your Numbers

Does that trigger you!? Knowing your numbers in business is important for many many reasons, but even thinking about diving into the analytical side of what your numbers are might have you breaking out in hives. In 2022, this trend means that we get more comfortable with knowing what’s coming in versus what's going out. We don’t have to make it complicated. Obviously some people live for this and they want to get really in the details, but if that’s not you, don’t sweat it! If you have a booking system, it should break down the numbers for you, such as how many clients are coming in and how many you’re retaining, your sales figures, etc. It’s okay to start small when you’re feeling uncomfortable about this task in your business, but it is crucial to assess your business and your growth so that you know where you stand and can devise a plan to get you to where you want to go. Although your palms may be clammy just thinking about it now, do this in a way that is not overwhelming. If you feel like you’re just really not a numbers person and it brings too much stress into your life to even think about having to break into the details, the better option may be to bring someone in that can do the numbers for you!

Delegate

We all know the trend of being a #bossbabe who hustles and grinds all day every day to accomplish her goals. Let’s just say, we are over that. I want you to move away from the notion that you have to work 24/7, 365 to build your dream and if you’re not hustling every second of your free time then you’re not doing enough. I’m going to guess that the reason you started your own business in the first place was because you wanted to have the freedom to do what you want and not have to listen to anyone else. A lot of us have that independent mentality in common! However, if your business is consuming you, it’s not giving you what you ultimately wanted when you started: time freedom. You deserve vacations, you deserve relaxation, you deserve to enjoy the fruits of your labor. This is where delegating tasks becomes very important. In 2022, we are not going to have a limited way of thinking where we are the only one that can do what we do. There are so many capable and talented people available to you to help you do the things that you either lack at, or don’t really have time for. Delegating is basically just duplicating yourself so that you can put more energy into the work you love and that drives the needle forward in your business. When you really think about it, how many of the tasks that you do every week for your business are tasks that you solely need to be the one doing? The trend this year is to understand your priorities, understand the things you have to do and want to do and work on asking for help.

Stay Laser Focused

This year is all about awareness. Be aware of where you’re putting your energy. There’s a lot of negativity that floats around the online space. If you’re a business owner, it’s a wise decision to use the internet to your advantage when trying to grow your business because you have the ability to reach the masses by doing so. However, this also opens you up to a massive amount of opinions and critiques. It’s easy to get engulfed in drama and negativity whether it’s aimed toward your own business or it’s comments being flooded in about someone else. Despite this, I believe this will be the year where we see women and people in general come together in an authentic way. I have always thought that if there’s ever an issue with a company or a person where you had a less than fantastic experience you should go straight to the source to directly address it in a mature manner. As we all know, this doesn’t always happen. This is where being laser focused on your own goals, on your own business, on doing what’s best for you is a trend in 2022. Don’t find yourself getting dragged into the negativity you see around you, but instead, prioritize what’s really important to you. Focusing on the things in your life that bring you joy and make what you're doing worthwhile will only help to push you forward this year.

Whew, how's that for a pep talk to aim you in the right direction for 2022!? I am really excited to see what this year brings for Spray Tan Class as well as seeing what positive steps forward all of you have in your beauty businesses this year.
